Brave-O Award Recipients! - April 2nd, 2026

Each week, SCMS recognizes students who go above and beyond in academics, attitude, and character with the Bravo-O Award. These students exemplify what it means to be a Bravo, showing dedication, kindness, and perseverance in everything they do. Join us in celebrating this week's outstanding recipients! (Name are listed from left to right / top to bottom in the photo)

Hayden Conner (5th Grade) - Nominated by Wendy Miller

I am pleased to award Hayden my Brave-O Award this week becuase he has shown a tremendous amount of growth. Not only has Hayden leveled up academically but he has demonstrated as a very respectful, well mannered gentleman. This behavior is an exemplar of SCMS Brave-O expectations. Congratulations Hayden for rising above. All of your teachers have seen and experienced this same Brave-O behavior, Hayden, I encourage you to continue to allow yourself to mature and never depart from the respectful, young man you are growing into.

Ava Wilson (6th Grade) - Nominated by Shanene Tolliver

Ava is receiving this Brave-O because of her determination. She doesn't give up easily. I am fortunate to teach Ava two times a day, in both math and science. She perseveres in both subjects. If a topic or problem is difficult to understand, Ava does not complain. She buckles down and does her absolute best. I appreciate her willingness to try, and her great attitude!

Jose Martinez (7th Grade) - Nominated by Madison Swanner

I am proud to recognize Jose Martinez as Brave-O for his strong work ethic, positive spirit, and perseverance. Jose always comes to class with a smile which helps to brighten everyone's day. His work ethic, positive spirit, and perseverance shine not only in the classroom but also on the soccer field. Jose is a wonderful role model for his peers, and I cannot wait to see what he accomplishes next!

Dewey Lamb (8th Grade) - Nominated by Kim Lassiter

This young man has grown so much this year. He played football and always cheered on his fellow teammates. He is beginning to come out of his shell and ask questions and answer questions. He has been a bright light of my C-Block. I can't wait to see what's in store for Dewey Lamb in high school. Keep up the hard work and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Zayne Sims (6th Grade) - Nominated by The RTI Team

For this week's Brave-O, the RTI team, is nominating Zayne Sims. Over the course of the year, Zayne has been working to meet Reading and Math goals that were set for him. Most recently, Zayne has shown great maturity in taking ownership of his own data and setting goals for himself as well. The TRI team is so proud of Zayne's progress. Not only has he met his goals, he has exceeded them and shown pride and character in doing so.

We are so proud of you Zayne and we are excited to see your continued progress and confidence as you move forward into the year and beyond! Keep rising above and meeting challenges with the same level of character we are seeing in you now. Congratulations!

Bella Lee (7th Grade) - (Related Arts) Nominated by Misty Young

I've watched this student tackle some tough challenges this year. She didn't give up when things got hard, she kept pushing through. Character is what you do when no one is looking. Bella is the epitome of this statement. Keep shining!

Keep up the amazing work: You are making SCMS proud!
